Decide what you need, then what you can repay
Start with the expense itself. If it can wait, compare borrowing with saving towards it. If a loan is still appropriate, use the smallest amount that meets the need and test the repayment against your budget.
Keep the right documents ready
Document requirements vary. Check the official lender page before you apply. Typical requests can include identification, proof of income, bank statements and confirmation of your address. Share documents only through the lender’s verified secure process.
- Confirm the exact amount you will receive.
- Ask for the rate, fees, insurance and total repayment.
- Check the repayment dates against your income.
- Understand what happens if you miss a payment.
- Ask how early settlement works.
- Keep a copy of the final quotation and agreement.
Leave yourself a moment to decide
You do not need to choose a lender because it is first in a list. Fairloan sorts by name by default, and the directory covers only a selection of the market. Compare relevant conditions and use the provider’s final written quotation to decide.
If you are unsure about a term, ask the lender to explain it before accepting. The calculator can help you explore numbers; it cannot assess your personal suitability for credit.
