How this calculation works
The example uses a fixed annual nominal rate divided into monthly periods and equal monthly principal-and-interest payments. The initiation fee is financed and attracts interest. A fixed service fee and fixed insurance amount are then added each month.
The calculator starts with blank costs. A link from an amount page carries over only that amount. “Try an example” loads a separate illustration; switching modes keeps your figures in memory until the page is reloaded. Neither mode produces a lender offer. The result excludes late fees, changes in rate and daily-interest differences. Actual insurance may decrease with the outstanding balance. Displayed amounts are rounded to cents; the schedule uses unrounded calculations.
Use a fixed annual nominal rate, not a monthly rate or an APR that already includes costs. This model is for monthly instalments with a financed initiation fee and fixed monthly fees and insurance. It does not model day-based loans, revolving credit, upfront fees or a changing insurance premium. Its input limits are tool limits, not legal limits or lender eligibility rules. If your quotation uses a different structure, rely on the lender’s schedule.
Try a shorter and longer term with the same rate and fees. With a complete calculation, select “Check this payment in my budget” to copy the displayed monthly payment into a budget check on this page. Only that payment is copied; your income and other costs stay separate. Copy again to update it after changing the calculation.
The transfer uses this page’s memory. It does not add financial figures to the URL, save them in browser storage or send them to a server. Reloading clears the calculation and budget. You can also open the standalone budget checkwith empty fields.
