Initiation and service charges shown publicly are example amounts; the loan terms place your actual charges in the pre-agreement. Required credit protection has a published monthly premium based on the original loan amount, with separate cancellation and refund conditions.

Initiation fee
R1,207 in the R10,000 / 24-month representative example, not a universal tariff. The actual once-off charge is in your pre-agreement; its universal formula and VAT treatment remain unconfirmed. You may pay it with your first account payment if selected at application; otherwise it is added to principal and repaid in instalments.
Monthly service fee
R69 per month in the representative example. Clause 6.5 says the service fee applies for as long as the loan is outstanding. Your pre-agreement sets the actual amount and frequency; RCS may change the amount with notice. Separate VAT treatment remains unconfirmed.
Credit life / protection
Required while a loan balance is owing. The currently linked October 2025 Guardrisk Life policy charges R4.50 per R1,000 of the original loan amount each month; premiums are collected as part of your instalment. It covers death, permanent disability, temporary total disability and loss of income, subject to exclusions. Equivalent replacement cover must be ceded to RCS with the required written directions. Ordinary cancellation requires 31 days’ notice and replacement cover, without a refund of premiums already paid. A separate, conditional 31-day cooling-off provision allows a refund less the cost of risk cover already provided; replacement cover is still required.

Before you apply

  • Age 18 or older
  • South African ID or driver’s licence and a South African bank account
  • Employed, earning at least R3,000 per month
  • Proof of income: latest payslip or bank statements; affordability assessment

What to check

The product page advertises interest from 15% without a period beside that headline and uses 28.25% annually in its example and maximum-rate wording. These are not a verified current rate range or all-in APR. Example fees are not a universal tariff. CPI excludes retrenchment during the first three months of cover. The cooling-off refund requires the policy’s timing conditions to be met, no benefit claimed or paid and no event giving rise to a claim. Other exclusions and claim conditions apply; read the full policy and your schedule.

What to check when borrowing R 10 000

A higher returning-customer limit may still be below R10,000

A label such as “returning customer” does not establish that R10,000 is available. The filter checks each variant’s own maximum. Products capped at R8,000 or less stay out of this list, regardless of brand size or whether you have borrowed before.

Check account access as well as instalments

Some products provide access through an approved account, while others pay out a personal loan repaid over a set term. Read the product description and check withdrawal conditions, how fees accrue and what is due each month. Do not compare an account limit with cash you are guaranteed to receive.

Understand interest, fees and insurance before comparing the full amount repayable.

Read the product behind the amount

These examples illustrate different published product ranges. They are not a ranking or personal recommendations. The full list above uses the same amount-matching rule.

How much is R 10 000 before borrowing costs?

Dividing the cash amount across a few periods helps show the starting commitment. These figures contain no interest, fees or insurance. They are not repayment estimates or lender offers, and the periods do not establish available loan terms.

Arithmetic illustration: R 10 000 ÷ number of months, rounded to cents
Illustrative periodCapital only per month
3 monthsR 3 333,33
12 monthsR 833,33
24 monthsR 416,67

Open the loan calculator for R 10 000and add the term, annual interest, fees and insurance from your written quotation. Only the amount is carried over; no costs are assumed. Its monthly model does not model day-based loans.

Check the proposed payment against your monthly budget. If existing repayments are difficult, visit Help with debt before committing to another agreement.

Questions about R 10 000 loans

Why are Wonga and Boodle missing from the R10,000 list?

The reviewed catalogue records their returning-customer maximums as R8,000 and their first-time maximums as R5,000. Neither variant reaches R10,000, so they are excluded from this page. The separate profiles remain available for readers comparing smaller amounts; we do not raise limits to fill a search page.

Can I compare a R10,000 loan over 12 months?

Select 12 months in the term filter. Only products with matching published monthly terms remain; products limited to fewer months or with unconfirmed maximum terms are excluded. Then check the lender’s written quotation, because an amount match and a term match do not guarantee that combination is available.

Does comparing on Fairloan start a loan application?

No. You can compare products and read their terms without sending Fairloan your ID, income documents or contact details. If you choose an official lender link, any application happens on that lender’s site. The lender decides whether to offer you credit and on what terms.

Compare a different amount

Start with what you need. A higher product limit is not a reason to borrow more.

Amount guide updated 8 November 2026. Lender records retain their own source-check dates and limitations; see each profile. Fairloan is a comparison publisher, not a lender.
